Below you will find resources and suggestions for how you as an individual and your YD group can make the most impact with the least funds.

Letters to the Editor:
One effective (and cheap) way to engage the community is through letters to the editor.  From the larger daily papers to the small-town weekly papers, letters to the editor provide a great resource for your ideas to get a unique audience.  Most newspapers allow email submissions, but do make sure to read all the requirements (including length limits).  Let us know when your letter runs so that we can point to it.

Use the Radio
Another effective (and cheap) way to get your YD's name out is to seek out radio stations for community calendars or possibly a few advertisements.  Some radio stations, especially in smaller communities, make community event announcements, so target this free airtime to get your name out.  Also, many radio advertisements are rather cheap and hit a very specific market.  Find what stations in your area have the largest 36 and under audience and target those stations to get your word out.

Social Networking Sites
:
Sites like Facebook and Myspace allow your group to have a dynamic web presence at no cost.  These can be used as a virtual rallying point for members to get the latest news and contribute any ideas or thoughts they have.  You can also send blast messages or emails and make your communicataion more effective.

What to Read:
Since politics change so frequently, it can be hard to keep up.  Below is a list of blogs and other sites that can help keep you up on what's going on.  While WYDs cannot vouch for the content of each site (and the views expressed on those sites are not necessarily those of WYDs or of its members), you will hopefully find something that you like, that will keep you connected.
